... Robert to continue on his quest for revenge should he parish before the monster is killed. Even though the crew begin munity and ask Robert to return, Victor find enough strength on his death bed to tell them to continue and not return without the glory they had came for similar to what Victor has done. In reality Victors compulsion leads to the thoughts that he once had of revenge regardless of this earlier pleas of the contrary. During the first letters of Walton to his sister, it is evedant from earlie on that Victor has a strong compulsion to tell his tale in order to stop the repition of mistakes no doubt but as the story unfolds we can see the true faults and selfishness of Victor Frankenstein. Unhappy man! Do you share my madness, Have you drank also of the intoxicating draught, Hear me-let me reveal my tale, and you will dash the cup from you lips (22). Very early on it is believed to think that Victor is a man of moral choices but is inflicted with misfortunes and unlucky events places upon him out of his control. As the story unfolds it is discovered that its the complete opposite. Although Victors compulsion to tell his tale for others to learn from his mistakes in hope to stop others from repeating the same mistakes is evident, Victor selfishness is present even in his very last moments in which he pleas for Robert to risk his and his crews lives in order for him to gain the revenge which lead to his demise. As both Victor and the Ancient Mariner feel the compulsion to tell their tale in similar ways, Victor and the Mariners difference in personality lead to the true meaning and compulsion to tell their tales.
