Solomon agreed but when his son left with his many servants and assistants, the company stole the holy Ark of the Covenant from the Temple in Jerusalem and brought it to a temple in the city of Aksum. Ethiopians believed the Ark had come to Ethiopia and Menenlik was the founder of Solomonic Dynasty. According to tradition most emperors in Ethiopia have been relatives from King Solomon, through their Queen Makeda. Makedas stories arent always so simple. Some say she tried to reject Solomons affection, because she wanted to rule her country as a virgin. He eventually tricked her and took her virginity. Before he won Makeda over, its said that he slept with her slave. Both women ha his sons. Relatives of the slaves son eventually became emperors of the Zagwe dynasty from the 11th to 13th centuries.
