... times in Christys life. This one character is a mix between real life influences, Katrina Delahunt, Dr. Collis, and Lois Warnarts. Katrina Delahunt was his first love interest and the person who encouraged Christy to keep painting and never give up. Christy attributes her to the reason he didnt commit suicide. Dr. Collis is a man who gave Christy the opportunity to develop his skills at a clinic in Dublin, and Lois Warnarts helped Christy with his physical rehabilitation. It is understandable to condense the qualities of these influcences into one helpful character, for sake of time and keeping the viewers interested, but I feel that it took away from showing the hard work and drive that Christy had when he developed his motor skills and strengthen his body. Sheridan instead focuses on the struggles with depression he had in life as a way to focus on a few themes as opposed to the many themes that are involved in the story. The movie version of My Left Foot may follow the story of Christy Brown and focus on the viewer grabbing certain aspects of his life, but the film can be seen as part fiction, part bio-picture. While he captures some of Christys biggest moments in his life, he leaves a few moments out and condenses characters from Christys life. This may take away from the credibility of the film being a bio-picture, but it is done in a way to condense a very detailed theme filled story into a two hour watchable movie. It is difficult to make a movie about someones life and touch on everything that happened. Sheridan keeps to telling Christys story in a proper way but has to combine certain areas in his life to keep the viewer focused on the development of the character.
